Oftentimes, certain conditions can impede your gutters from functioning properly. In addition to proper manufacturing and installation, there are other accessories which are necessary in order to maintain the operation of your gutters and keep them working efficiently. The accessories you will need for your gutters are, of course, specific to the individual circumstances and environmental conditions relative to your own home. We at DeMoss & GutterMan, LLC would be happy to do a free analysis and give you professional advice as to what additional accessories you will need for your roof. Below, we have included a short list of some of the gutter accessories we provide in order to insure your gutters continue to operate properly.
Bird cages are made from diamond-shaped expanded metal. They are made in different sizes so that they fit standard size 2×3 rectangular, 2×3 oval or 3″ round downspout outlets. The diamond-shaped mesh holes provide an ideal filter for large leafy debris that can clog typical residential gutter systems. Strainers also provide debris protection for underground drainage systems. What makes this version versatile is that the expanded metal can be manually shaped to match the outlet profile – whether it’s a 2×3 square, 2×3 oval, or 3″ plain round.
A Leaf Trap is a funnel shaped metal device that is placed towards the bottom of your downspouts. The leaf trap will collect any leaves and debris that makes its way through the gutters and into the downspouts. The debris will fall over the mesh and the water from the rain will run through it.
Rain chains are alternatives to a downspout. Their purpose is largely decorative, to make a water feature out of the transport of rainwater from the guttering downwards to a drain or to a storage container. Rain chains are typically either a series of metal cups, chained together with a hole in the bottom of each, or chain links that span vertically. Rain water run-off gets distributed from a roof top gutter downward through the rain chain.
Rain Quiet– We have all heard stories of the “Chinese water torture” It didn’t involve rain gutters, but it probably should have. Trying to sleep, rest, or work with the annoying sound of water dripping or trickling through your gutter downspouts can be maddening, even though the volume of the noise isn’t very high. Thankfully, we can install Rain Quiet to the bottom of your downspout. This product will help stop the dripping sound by absorbing the water before it hits the metal downspout!
A Snow Guard is a steel device used to retain snow and ice from falling from one surface to a lower one. When we use them, they are installed to prevent snow and ice pack from avalanching off of your metal roof, once the temperature heats up and starts to melt the snow piled on top of it. With no guard to stop it there will be a large sheet sliding right off that smooth metal roof causing possible damage to your home, property people or anything else that is below that roofline.
Splash Blocks are an option when a downspout is not connected to an in ground drainage system. In this case we would use an elbow at the very end of the downspout to slightly divert the water away from your home. During periods of prolonged rain the volume of water moving through that system gets to be pretty high and the water moves quickly. You may choose to use a Splash Block so that the water is diverted farther away from your house to save damage done to your foundation. You can also position it so that the water is directed away from your, garden or new grass. We offer a few different colors to help make this a stylish addition to any home.
